*Day 2 - Abel*

Today’s story is about the very first shepherd – Abel.

“2 And again, she [Eve] bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. 3 In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, 4 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering,” -- Genesis 4:2-4

God loved Abel's offering, because it was the best he could give. When we give God our best, it shows how much we really love him. God gives us everything. Knowing this, Abel gave God his best sheep to show God how much he loved him. Today, let’s think about what is important to us and give that to God, like Abel did. What can you do today to give God something that he loves? Even if that means just talking to him, or singing a praise to him. He loves when we communicate with him.

“Lord, thank you so much for everything you do. You have given me so much! Please help me to always give you my best. I know how much it will mean to you. Thank you for all the gifts and talents you have given me, and forgive me for sometimes taking those things for granted. Help me to make the most of those gifts every day, not just today… In Jesus’ name, Amen!”

Sheep fun fact: Sheep can actually recognize their shepherd’s voice and come when they are called!
